REGULATIONS OF RECRUITMENT

for the Summer Camp for International Students and PhD Students

in the project Let’s meet at NCU! – International Intensive Summer and Winter

Educational Meetings at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń

 

in the program of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange
 SPINAKER – Intensive International Education Programs

 

 

  1. The recruitment procedure is conducted by the Recruitment Committee composed of 7 members: a main coordinator of the project, three module coordinators and one representative of each module (Humanities, Social Sciences, Exact and Natural Sciences). The composition of the Committee is approved by the Rector's authorities of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun. The purpose of the procedure is to evaluate the documents submitted by the candidates and to establish the main list and the reserve list of participants.

 

  1. The recruitment procedure is conducted entirely in English.

 

  1. To apply for the Summer Camp the participant must be recognized as a foreigner in the meaning of the Law on Higher Education and Science and meet all of the following criteria:

- to be a student or PhD student;

- not to have Polish citizenship;

- to know English at a level that enables them to take part in academic activities;

- not to be a participant in the Summer Camp 2022 or Winter Camp 2023.

 

Candidate must have a student/PhD student status during the Summer Camp (until July 28th, 2023).

You can only participate once in the project Let’s meet at NCU! So, if you have participated in our Summer Camp Learn, discover, enjoy – Summer Camp at NCU (July 4th-22nd, 2022) or in the Winter Camp Interdisciplinarity in research – Winter Camp at NCU (February 20th-24th, 2023), you cannot participate in the Summer Camp 2023.

 

  1. Due to the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science and Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange to discontinue cooperation between Poland and Russia, students or PhD students from the Russian Federation CANNOT apply for participation in the project.

 

  1. Candidates submit the documents qualifying for participation in the summer school in one of the three modules:

- HUMANITIES (e.g. for students of History, Conservation of Monuments, History of Art, Theology, Cultural Studies, Fine Arts, Philology)

- SOCIAL SCIENCES (e.g. for students of Law, Administration, Economy, Management, Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, Psychology, Socio-Economic Geography, Internal Security)

- EXACT AND NATURAL SCIENCES (e.g. for students of Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Mathematics, Computer Science, Geography, Biology, Veterinary Science).

 

  1. The recruitment procedure takes place online using the form available on the project website (https://letsmeetatncu.umk.pl/pages/recruitment/), to which the following documents in English must be attached in electronic form. In the recruitment procedure, the candidate may obtain a maximum of 50 points from the following elements:

1) proof of student/PhD student status (document from your dean's office written IN ENGLISH) (containing the name of the field of study – 5 points);

 

Candidate must have a student/PhD student status during the Summer Camp (until July 28th, 2023).

 

2) declaration of English level (communicative level enabling to take part in academic activities) (5 points);

 

3) opinion about the candidate written by an university employee (letter of recommendation) – max. 1500 characters (20 points);

 

the opinion should contain:

- characteristics of the student’s interests, qualifications and achievements (10 points)

- description of the student's potential in terms of undertaken education (10 points);

 

4) Curriculum Vitae and Letter of Motivation (20 points), including:

- description of interest in the subject of a given specialist module (Humanities, Social Studies or Exact and Natural Studies) as well as own qualifications and achievements (10 points);

- description of the motivation to participate in the Summer Camp in Poland and the choice of one of the three specialized modules (Humanities, Social Studies or Exact and Natural Studies) (10 points).

 

Letter of Motivation – up to 3000 characters.

  1. Recruitment for the Summer Camp lasts from May 8th to May 21st, 2023 (until 23.59 Polish time). The Committee will evaluate the documents and on the basis of this assessment will draw up two shortlists of candidates – the main list and the reserve list. The results of the selection procedure will be announced by e-mail by May 25th, 2023.

 

  1. The decision of the Committee may be appealed in writing within 7 calendar days from the announcement of the results to the e-mail address letsmeet@ncu.pl – the decision of the Committee, after considering the appeal, is final.

 

 

The participation is completely FREE OF CHARGE, financed by NAWA funds.
